Fast 2022

[vc_row bg_color=””][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]This Wednesday we start our fast! 21 days to Seek God with passion and deep desire. We need more of Jesus. More of him in our lives, more of his presence, more of the Holy Spirit. (5th Jan to 26th Jan 2022)

2022 is full of uncertainty already but one thing we can be certain of… ‘You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart’. Jeremiah 29:13

Lets take our prayer life and time with God to another level![/vc_column_text][ish_box color=”color12″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/1″][ish_headline]

Why fast?

[/ish_headline][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/ish_box][vc_column_text]“Fasting helps us to express, to deepen, and to confirm the resolution that we are ready to sacrifice anything, even ourselves, to attain the Kingdom of God.” – Scot McKnight.

Fasting is the overflow of people’s heart who have decided we want more! We aren’t satisfied with the status quo; we know there’s more and we are ready to go after it.

Fasting food is what we see in the bible. For a short season men and woman decided food is not enough I want God only. As they made room, God filled them, not only spiritually but physically.

The goal of fasting is to draw nearer to God.

Remember – We don’t fast to pay a price. The price has been paid in FULL by Jesus. We fast for more… to deny ourselves of what we need/want for something far better!

We believe as we seek God, something always changes in us and the world around us.[/vc_column_text][ish_box color=”color12″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/1″][ish_headline]

What are we believing for as a church?

[/ish_headline][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/ish_box][vc_column_text]THIS year is significant
Fear reigns but our faith is greater.

While everything else may have been shaken the gospel is still Good News! Jesus has not changed, and his kingdom is available to us!

We fast to see more salvations, healing, breakthroughs and ProjectPossible.
This April will also mark 7 years as a church in Armagh. This is also significant, we haven’t come to just make up the numbers we have come to see a City restored and a people set free in Jesus!

Luke 4:1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted[a] by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.

14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside

As Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit, so are we! Let’s decide today is a moment for us to step forward and say Yes to His call.

There are many times you will fast for personal reasons and at those moments it will be a private fast. Our fast is a corporate fast so we all do it together.

The goal of fasting is to spend more time with Jesus everyday.

Fasting brings you into a deeper, more intimate and powerful relationship with God.

The Start, during and end

[/ish_headline][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/ish_box][vc_column_text]Before you Start

Confess your sins to God. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal areas of weakness. Forgive all who have offended you and ask forgiveness from those you may have offended (Mark 11:25; Luke 11:4; 17:3-4). Surrender your life fully to Jesus Christ and reject the worldly desires that try to hinder you (Romans 12:1-2).

What to Expect

When you fast your body detoxifies, eliminating toxins from your system. This can cause mild discomfort such as headaches and irritability during withdrawal from caffeine and sugars. And naturally, you will have hunger pains. Limit your activity and exercise moderately. Take time to rest. Fasting brings about miraculous results. You are following Jesus’ example when you fast. Spend time listening to praise and worship. Pray as often as you can throughout the day. Get away from the normal distractions as much as possible and keep your heart and mind set on seeking God’s face.

How to End well

Don’t overeat when the time comes to end your fast. Begin eating solid food gradually; eat small portions or snacks.

More on Fasting?

Fasting is a great way to seek God for a short season so He can fill us afresh.

Fasting is about changing yourself, not changing God. Fasting is not about manipulating God.

Maybe you’re far from God, maybe you’re standing in the middle of a crisis with no answer. Jesus told his disciples some things only change with fasting and praying. Fasting is about denying yourself, taking yourself off the throne of your life and letting God be King.

Fasting is a choice, but it is also obedience. In Matthew 6, Jesus talks about three duties of every Christian: giving, praying and fasting. And He doesn’t use the word ‘if’, He uses the word ‘when’. You could choose not to fast this year, but why would you? Why would you choose to stay where you are when God has so much more for you?

“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬
